As filed, collateral included
17.02% collateralIWM's filing lists 2,017 positions including 17.02% of net assets in securities-lending cash collateral. Counted as filed the fund reads 33.2 effective holdings with a top ten of 20.14%; on its own investments — the figure above — it reads 840.2 with a top ten of 3.42%. The collateral is matched by a liability and is not a holding the fund chose; since 2026-09-18 every figure on this site sets it aside (methodology). Both numbers are in the data.

Who borrows IWM's shares
2026-06-30The fund lends its holdings, and Item B.4.a of the filing names every firm holding them. At 2026-06-30, $13.3bn was out to 30 borrowers, 16.03% of net assets. The largest, JP MORGAN SECURITIES LLC, held 82.3% of it.
| Borrower | On loan | Share of the loan |

| JP MORGAN SECURITIES LLC | $10.9bn | 82.3% |
| BNP PARIBAS PRIME BROKERAGE INTERNATIONAL LIMITED | $404m | 3.0% |

| GOLDMAN SACHS & CO. | $199m | 1.5% |
Cash collateral reported against the loan: 17.02% of net assets, 106.2% of the amount lent. That is a floor on the collateral, not the whole of it — collateral the fund does not hold as a position is not in this filing, so a figure under 100% is not evidence of under-collateralisation. Since the previous filing
2026-03-31 → 2026-06-301,938 positions became 2,009: 246 added (5.7% of the fund at the later date), 175 dropped (16.4% at the earlier date). Half the sum of all weight changes, a turnover proxy: 20.9%. Positions are matched on identifiers, so a security whose identifier changed shows as one drop and one add. Derivative exposure and counterparties
as of 2026-06-30A position count cannot describe a fund that uses derivatives, because a swap is filed at its unrealised gain, not its exposure. These are the notionals the fund itself reported, against net assets of $82.97B. Notional of an interest-rate or currency swap is not equity exposure.

How Long Will Your Money Last? The 4% Rule Tested on 25 Years of Real Fund Returns
A retirement withdrawal test that uses the actual monthly returns of VTI, QQQ, IWM, AGG and TLT since 1999-2003 — including 2000-02 and 2008 — instead of an assumed return distribution. Eight portfolios, four withdrawal rates, 2,000 resampled 30-year paths each. The 4% rule survives almost everywhere in nominal terms; the interesting numbers are at 5%, 6% and 7%, and in what a bad decade does to a bond-only or Nasdaq-only retiree.

Why 2,017 IWM Holdings Read as 33: Securities Lending in the Russell 2000 ETF
IWM, the iShares Russell 2000 ETF, files 2,017 holdings but our concentration measure read it as 33. The cause is a 17% cash-collateral position from securities lending, flagged in the filing itself; set it aside and the fund's own investments behave like about 840. Seventy-three funds on this site, including IJH, IJR, RSP, LQD and HYG, had the same problem. What we found, what we changed today, and what is still open.
